One of the main attractions of this area of Spain is it´s miles of unspoilt blue flag beaches. Patrolled during the summer months by the Cruz Roja (Red Cross) lifeguards they offer safe and secure bathing for all members of your family. There are beach volleyball courts, fresh water showers and climbing frames for the kids amongst many other attractions. The beach is a 20 minute walk away from the centre of town, but the 'Olibus' bus service will take you there quickly. This service runs from the Paseo in the centre of town every half-hour during the summer months. Oliva’s fine sandy beach is over 10 km long and is backed by natural dunes. This beautiful, unspoilt beach is a great place to spend the day with numerous Spanish restaurants and bars for a fine and inexpensive lunch. For the more adventurous among you there is a kite surfing centre where you can learn how to ride the waves and soar upwards in the Spanish sunshine. At one end of the beach is the Club Nautica which offers moorings to ships and boats as well as sailing courses. The beach area has numerous bars and restaurants and in the Summer months you can also enjoy the Chiringuitos (Spanish beach bars) which are open 24 hours a day and are at their most lively from 3am onwards. Here you can enjoy live DJs and stay all night until the sun comes up, if you have the stamina.
The Oliva Nova golfing complex backs onto the beaches for those who wish to combine sports and leisure. The San Juan Festival takes place in June and this really is a must if you are visiting Spain at this time. The night of 23rd June is the most important and on this one night the whole town visits the beach where rules are relaxed and you can have a bonfire and BBQ on the beach, play music, dance and watch the fireworks. ...more
