Holidaymakers - Frequently asked questions

Which airport should I fly to?

Both Alicante and Valencia are within an hour’s drive of Oliva and you can fly to either one. Valencia is closer and is now being opened up for good, cheap holiday flights by both Easyjet and Ryanair. See Links page for links to these and other airline websites.

Do I need to hire a car?

A car is certainly an advantage if you want to fully experience everything the Valencia region of Spain has to offer. Some of the villas we have to rent are in fairly remote locations and for these a car is essential. Oliva is served well by public transport and it is therefore possible to get around without hiring a vehicle.

When is the best time to come for a holiday?

The Summer months of July and August can be extremely hot and humid in Oliva and Valencia with temperatures in the high 30s or occasionally into the 40's. People who find these high temperatures oppressive will find it better to visit in May, June or September when the weather is warm and sunny but not too hot. However with With 300+ days of sunshine a year, Oliva and Valencia are worth a visit at any time of the year.

What does Oliva have to offer as a  holiday destination?

Oliva is a traditional Spanish town with some fabulous fiestas in the summer months, the high point being the extravagant Moors and Christians in the third week of July.

Oliva has a massive expanse of unspoilt sandy beaches with safe swimming and an excellent beach lifeguard presence in the summer months. There are many bars and restaurants in the town and a walk around the old town will bring you to some lovely quiet bars where you can sit outside and enjoy the sun. However if you prefer something a bit more lively the Chiringuitos (Beach bars) are open 24 hours a day in the summer months and are at their most lively from 3am onwards.

The many attractions of  Benidorm are only a short drive away as is the wonderful city of Valencia with it’s recently opened city of arts and sciences. This incorporates a science museum, the fantastic undersea world of L’Oceanografic and an Imax cinema.

There is something in and around Oliva for all the family to enjoy.

For more information see our Oliva & Area page. See our Fiestas page for information on some of the many Oliva Fiestas.
